Katvig back in stock!

Back in 2006 when we first opened the shop here in Yorkshire, one of the first Brands we had to have was Katvig...
Katvig has since then done their best in the fight agains pollution and the way we recycle things... Although it has meant that the prices unfortunately have increased slightly.

We have now ordered some pieces from their winter collection and I think you will love them as much as we do...

Vigga Svensson is the woman behind the Katvig™ children’s clothes that have become an instant classic among parents around the world. When she got the idea for the clothes it was hard for her to reconcile her desire to protect the Earth with the production methods being used.
That's why she began to use organic cotton and recycled polyester, made out of used plastic bottles. She wanted her signature Apple prints and stripes to be as friendly as possible to the nature, to the people making it and to the children wearing it.
Vigga has also developed a transport system that saves enormous amounts of packaging. She is politically involved with the sustainable development, and has already had great success with putting her mark on the industry.
Her latest initiative is a cotton mill that would make Denmark completely free of the very polluting consumption of cotton we see today. Instead of the endless pollution of nature and environment, the cotton mill will make it possible to recycle all the cotton that is thrown away every year.
Recently Vigga has launched what might be the most sustainable material ever, recycled organic cotton.

"Instagram" for IPHONE

I dont know if many of you are aware of Instagram...

Its a fab little app for the Iphone with kinda Facebook possibilities.
You find your friends and follow their lives via their photos that they post onto Instagram..
You can also follow people from all over the world... lets say you see a photo on the "popular" page that you really like.. you can then go in and have a look at this persons other photos and if you find them amazing you just click "follow"
There are also options for posting comments i.e. "wow where is that taken?" or other comments.
I especially get a strong desire to travel... see all those amazing places...
It also cleverly picks up your friends from Facebook.

I do like the way you can enjoy someones fab photographs without having to have the whole polite conversation.. the only downside to Instagram is the self portraits of various girls looking for rude compliments but they are far and between and it is well worth downloading...

Celavi wellies...

We have got them! They have finally arrived...

Unique fit and springy sole make CeLaVi's wellies some of the most comfortable available. Bright and happy colours, as well as simple motifs speaks to children of all ages.

Is a wellie just a piece of rubber meant to keep the feet dry? For some manufacturers, yes. At Ce La Vi, the answer is no. Wellies are much more than that. So a Ce La Vi wellie has been through a designer, our specially developed moulds and a whole bunch of tiny 'test-feet' which ensures that the shape is exactly right. The mould is the shape which a shoe or boot is shaped around and many manufacturers buy their products as pre-fabricated because of the price of having their own moulds. Brands4kids has chosen to invest in our own moulds. So we can ensure that our wellies always has that good fit which we have been known by for years.

Particularly slim fit

Children uses wellies in a different manner and often for longer periods than adults. That is why the starting point of development, for Ce La Vis' wellies has been that they need to be not only functional with regards to weather, but also good for walking, running, climbing and playing around. These requirements have to be met by the fit of the boot. Our wellies are made from natural rubbers and are special by being slim at the rear. This helps to hold the boots in place on the foot, so as to provide support and not drop by the heel or stick to the floor when the kids run around in them. At the same time they are not very wide at the top which makes it easier to pull the rain paints down over them.

Follows the child's movements

The bottom - that is to say, sole - of the boot has also been specially developed, compared to those of other manufacturers. We have chosen to equip the wellies with extra suspension, realizing that children especially use the boots for more than 15 minutes at a time. There is at the same time a really good stride in the wellies so as to follow the movements of the child both on the monkey-bars in the puddles or on the bike.

Ankle-boots for the smallest little ones
It has taken a long time, and we have gained a lot of experience during the development of wellies over the years. We have now reached the point where wellies are more than just a means to shelter from the rain. Ce La Vi are proud to market boots that the kids can play in for hours without their feet getting tired. But of course it doesn't stop there because there are constantly new models being developed. The latest new addition to the range is the ankle-boots. Not only do they look cute but they are also particularly handy for the smallest of the wearers. They are very easy to slip into so the kids aren't tumbling around as they try to stay balanced on one leg, while the other leg finds it way down through the long wellie. By choosing the shorter wellie for your very small child with short legs you also avoid the edge of the boot going too far up the leg, inhibiting games and play.
Facts about moulds
A mould is the shape which shoes and boots are shaped around. Moulds can have many different shapes and widths. A mould for fashionable shoes will often be smaller than the mould for a sports-shoe for instance. There is a mould for each size and obviously a left and a right for each size.
Moulds are extremely expensive to design, produce and maintain. That is why many manufacturers buy pre-fabricated shoes and boots that have been shaped using the individual suppliers' standard-moulds. The fit of the shoe from these manufacturers may therefore vary from one collection to the next. Ce La Vi have their own moulds which have been specially designed to provide the best possible comfort for the tiny feet.

Over the course of today I shall photograph and add these beauties to our website..

cushions and hairclips...

Lately I have found myself having the need to create something in the evening.... I have made cushions (soon to be added to our website) hairclips, rings, brooches and ear studs... I find this to be a much better way of spending the evening when the kids are tucked in, rather than slouch in front of the telly..(although this is needed from time to time)

Below is a small selection of the jewellery...

I hope you like them....

Bubbles Clothes Fair London

Yesterday was a long day..

We started our journey at 7.30 in the morning catching our train from the local station. The journey down to London from the North is not bad.. Its a direct line and with a few stops so we got to London within a couple of hours.

We were quite exited to see what the world of children's fashion had to offer and we can announce that we have found some fab clothes for next winter.

We have Katvig back on board and also a few new small companies with fantastic t-shirts for both girls and boys..
Katvig was looking pretty lovely I must say... loved the colours, and even thought Katvig is in the more expensive end I do admire Vigga Svensson for her persistence to make the clothes organic and recyclable - surely it is the way forward....

We have also ordered stripey tights from Melton and some pretty raspberry leather baby shoes - they are to die for.

So all in all a long but productive day and we cant wait to show you next years fashion.
